Antelope Valley Medical Center had the pleasure of hosting this year's Cardiovascular Symposium, featuring world renowned expert Raj Makkar, MD, as keynote speaker, in addition to Michelle Maya Kittleson, MD, PhD.
The discussion included talks about advances in heart failure therapies and percutaneous advances in valvular disease. Dr. Kittleson comes to us as the Director of Post Graduate Medical Education in Heart Failure and Transplantation from Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute. In 2020, Dr. Makkar performed the most transcatheter mitral valve repair procedures with the MitraClip system in the United States. With Dr. Kittleson and Dr. Makkar's expertise, attendees were able to gain a better understanding of the different approaches to heart failure management and transcatheter heart valve therapies. As well as learning when to refer patients with HF and VHD to interventional therapies, amongst other helpful techniques and information.
Thank you to these experts for sharing their knowledge with our staff. Antelope Valley Medical Center offers advanced treatments for commonly encountered complex heart conditions, and patients can expect top-of-the-line care from our team. These education experiences will further elevate AVMC as the leader in cardio health in the Antelope Valley.
