  • Posted On:

(LANCASTER, Calif.) — Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) has been recognized as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in the United States. AVMC was the only hospital in the Antelope Valley to achieve this honor.

Announced in The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report, “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” AVMC was acknowledged for attaining and sustaining excellence in specific areas of care. The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for outstanding performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions. Based on data collected by The Joint Commission for 2014, AVMC was commended for its performance in five Key Quality Measures: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care and perinatal care.

“Delivering the right treatment in the right way at the right time is a cornerstone of high-quality healthcare,” said Mark R. Chassin, M.D., president and CEO of The Joint Commission. “I commend the efforts of Antelope Valley Medical Center for their excellent performance on the use of evidence-based interventions.”

“Antelope Valley Medical Center is proud to be named a Top Performer in recognition of the expertise, teamwork and dedication of our entire team,” said Liz Johnston, AVMC’s director of clinical risk and regulatory affairs. “We understand the relationship between evidence-based treatments and better health outcomes, which is why we work together to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality care.”
