Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: Oct. 14
- Posted On:
Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) has once again joined with Antelope Valley College and Zonta Club of the Antelope Valley Area to host the fourth annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. The family-friendly event features male participants walking one mile in red, high-heeled shoes to raise awareness about domestic violence in our community.
“This event joins big feet with big hearts and brings the community together for a great cause,” said Bridgett Amis, RN, manager of the forensic services unit at AVMC. “While it is a light-hearted, fun event, it draws attention to the important issue of violence in our community.”
The primary purpose of the event is to raise awareness. Any proceeds will benefit the hospital’s forensic services unit which coordinates the medical/legal needs of victims, including collection of evidence, and provides compassionate care to those who have experienced horrific crimes.
When: Saturday, October 14, 5 p.m.
Where: Antelope Valley College Football Field Parking Lot – 3041 West Avenue K in Lancaster.
Who: Everyone is welcome – elected officials, students, athletic teams, law enforcement, other first responders, businesses, social service agencies and more!
