The Antelope Valley Healthcare District (AVHD) Board of Directors is seeking applicants to fill several board positions. The deadline to apply is January 24 at 5 p.m.
One seat is now open on the AVHD Board of Directors, which is comprised of five publicly elected board members and currently has one vacancy due to the recent resignation of a member. AVHD board members simultaneously serve on both the district and hospital boards. To qualify for this position, a candidate must be a registered voter residing within the voting district and will be required to submit a completed conflict of interest statement (Form 700) at least 72 hours before their initial interview.
Three seats are also open on the newly established Antelope Valley Medical Center, Inc. Board of Directors. This is a result of the passage of Measure H last November, through which the community voted overwhelmingly in favor of creating a larger, nine-member board of directors to oversee the hospital. This expanded board requires the appointment of three community representatives. Applications are currently being accepted to fill these three spots. Appointed members will serve four-year terms and can rejoin for up to three total terms. Interested individuals must not have received compensation from the hospital within the past 12 months nor can they be related to someone who has been compensated by the hospital within the past 12 months.
"Selecting these new board members is an important step in implementing Measure H, which reflects the direction the community has instructed us to follow in regard to providing their care," said AVHD Board Chair Kristina Hong, RN. "We are excited about the bright future for Antelope Valley Medical Center and look forward to adding the invaluable expertise of some of our local leaders."
Applications can be completed at AVMC.org or picked up in person at the hospital’s administrative offices during regular business hours. For questions, call 661-949-5520.
