Antelope Valley Medical Center to host fashion show for breast cancer awareness

(Lancaster, CA – September 19, 2023) – Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC), in partnership with Antelope Valley Outpatient Imaging Center (AVOIC), Dillard's and the Antelope Valley Mall, are hosting a Pink Ribbon Runway event for breast cancer awareness. The fashion show will highlight women who have beat the odds and are breast cancer survivors, those currently fighting the disease, in addition to individuals that provide support to cancer patients.

This event will be a precursor to breast cancer awareness month to celebrate survival, strength and beauty. It is also aimed at encouraging women to start their screening mammograms at 40 years of age, and earlier if they have a family history of breast cancer.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers that affect women in the United States. With 1 in 8 women diagnosed with breast cancer, early diagnosis is critical for an increased chance at survival. Regular screening mammography reduces the chance of dying from breast cancer.
