Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) is delighted to announce the overwhelming success of its first Men's Health and Bowling Event on June 13, 2024. This engaging and informative event not only provided a fun-filled evening of bowling but also delivered crucial cancer prevention education to the community.

With over 90 registrants, the event was designed to raise awareness about the importance of early cancer detection and prevention, particularly among men, who often delay seeking medical advice. The Men’s Health and Bowling Event was a unique blend of entertainment and education, highlighting AVMC’s commitment to community health and wellness.

Dr. Trevor Lim, a Radiation Oncologist at City of Hope, leads a discussion on prostate cancer at Antelope Valley Medical Center’s Men’s Health event.

Keynote speakers included Dr. Trevor Lim, a radiation oncologist, and Kenny Irvin, NP, both from City of Hope, whom provided insightful presentations on the latest advancements in cancer detection and prevention strategies for colon and prostate cancers. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in one-on-one discussions with these experts, gaining valuable knowledge about recognizing early symptoms and the benefits of regular screenings.

“We are happy with the turnout and the level of engagement we witnessed at this event,” said Edward Mirzabegian, Antelope Valley Medical Center CEO. “Our goal was to create an approachable environment where men could learn about serious health issues in a relaxed setting. The success of this event reinforces the importance of community-focused health initiatives.”

AVMC extends its heartfelt gratitude to its partners, volunteers, and medical professionals who made this event possible. Their dedication and support were instrumental in creating an evening that was both enjoyable and educational.
