Free Event Ensures Child Safety on the Road

  • Posted On:

(LANCASTER, CA – April 9, 2025) – Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC), in partnership with the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health are hosting a free car seat check-up event. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on site to meet one-on-one with families to go over how to properly install a car seat or booster seat.

Whether it’s a rear-facing, forward-facing, or booster seat, the Child Passenger Safety Technicians will make sure parents and caregivers are set to travel with peace of mind. Spanish-speaking technicians will be available, and can also provide hands-on instruction, and answer questions about child passenger safety.

Proper car seat installation is critical in preventing injuries in the event of a crash. Studies show that approximately 46% of car seats and booster seats are used incorrectly. According to the CHP, most collisions occur within a mile of the home; another reminder to always properly secure your child in a safety seat, no matter how short the trip is. This event provides a vital service to help protect children in the community.

Media are invited to interview participants and staff; and take photos or video of the event. Safety demonstrations provided.
