I really appreciate everyone that stepped up to help.

I was a teenager at the time and my friend was driving the car that I was standing on. He drove 40mph around a corner and I fell off the car. I was brought to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where I was diagnosed with a 10-millimeter cranial shift, and I had internal bleeding in my brain.

Dr. Farrukh performed my brain surgery. I was in the hospital for about a week and a half, when I was woken up after my surgery. After my surgery I experienced a lot of pain, but I was given medications, so after I really couldn’t feel anything. Rose, who was in charge of the unit I was staying in, would come in a lot to check up on me and my family to make sure we were doing good. Rose and another nurse (he doesn’t work there anymore) always made sure to check up on my mom, and to make sure she was doing good. If someone did something wrong, Rose would correct them and say “you need to take care of the baby”; she always had my back.

My recovery since then has been good, I can walk perfectly fine and talk fine. The only thing is that my vision on the right side is a little bit blurred. I was told that because I was an athlete, it helped keep me alive. Most people don’t live after a 5-millimeter shift, that’s considered brain dead, and I was at a 10-millimeter shift. Because of the accident and the concussions, I’ve had from playing sports, I was told that I could be at risk for early onset dementia. However, as long as I continue to do brain exercises I should be fine. I’m super thankful for all the nurses and all the departments that showed up to see if I was okay, knowing how drastic it was, I really appreciate everyone that stepped up to help.
