If your child should become sick or injured, Antelope Valley Medical Center is prepared to meet your child’s special needs right here, close to home. Our pediatric unit is committed to offering specialized, compassionate, and family-centered care for every child we serve.
Antelope Valley Medical Center’s 22-bed pediatric unit includes a parent lounge and a pediatric playroom. Our treatment area allows your child’s room to be a safe zone, where they can rest and recuperate without fear. Specially trained pediatric nurses offer the highest quality nursing care to our younger patients. Our local pediatricians collaborate with pediatric hospitalists who are available 24 hours a day.
Our pediatric team includes a child life assistant, a healthcare professional who is certified to work with children and their families in the hospital. Focusing on children's emotional well-being, our child life assistant helps calm children’s fears and anxieties using age-appropriate play therapy, stories, toys, games, music, art, and imagination. Our child life assistant is also a Certified Lactation educator for your breastfeeding education needs.
Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP)
Antelope Valley Medical Center is the only hospital in the area to be approved by the County of Los Angeles as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP), which means we are ready to treat infants, children, and adolescents with serious illnesses or injuries at any time. Our nurses and physicians are trained in pediatric emergency medicine, and have access to equipment specifically designed for children. Our Pediatric Unit also is certified by California Children’s Services.
California Children’s Services Approved Hospital
Our Pediatric Department is a California Children’s Services (CCS) Approved Hospital, which means the department meets the standards and requirements for the state program. Antelope Valley Medical Center is the only hospital in the area with this designation.

Parents and guardians may visit at any time. All other visitors may visit daily between 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
